Join Campfire Film Cooperatie at the Scarab Club for drinks, conversation, and more! Anamorphic Widescreen… What is it? How does it work? Why do filmmakers and projectionists continue to use it?
For the fifth installment in their monthly series, Nick and Darian (both from Back Alley Cinema and MCCS) will demonstrate how a special lens doubles the width of a photographic image by means of anamorphosis, a cinematographic technique which has seen use in CinemaScope, Panavision, and other well-known processes for eight decades, and how it compares to the aspect ratios of ‘Flat’ films, including those adapted for cropped widescreen and the infamous practice of Pan & Scan. Admission is FREE. Drinks are FREE. - Donations are appreciated!
